Blockhouse fire department names first female fire chief

 Chief MacDonald, who earned the situation after an election earlier in the month, acknowledged the significance of achieving a title previously and almost exclusively held by men but isn't caught up with the details she's breaking new ground.  "From the day that I joined, as I moved up in the ranks, I always felt like I've been just one of the fellow firefighters. Paula MacDonald is also said to be the first housekeeper in Lunenburg County to hold the position.  Chief MacDonald takes over as chief from her husband, Shawn, who stepped down from the stand. We are totally lucky, because you hear of different barriers, there's never been a barrier in our department," she said during an interview at Blockhouse's fire place off Highway 325.  BLOCKHOUSE - The volunteer fire department in this community has elected its first female fire chief.  Chief Paula MacDonald anticipates her directorship style will be different than that of her spouse. He's been chief in Blockhouse for close to 11 years during a couple of different periods. It presumably won't be as strict or stern as what Shawn ran.

Sharon Baum of The Corcoran Group took home The Henry Forster Endow with for lifetime achievement. Ann Bialek and Madalyn Robbins of Halstead Property LLC were the third prize winners along with Dell Rubin of Prudential Douglas Elliman. Burt Savitsky, Diane Abrams and Felise Takings of Brown Harris Stevens Residential Sales took second prize along with Keren Coplan-Ringler of Warburg Realty Partnership, Ltd.
